The UTV World Championship moved venues from Laughlin NV and is now in Lake Havasu City AZ where a course was able to be pieced together despite COVID challenges.
This new course was tight, switch backed, and brutal by the time the Pro Turbo UTV race started on Saturday. Qualifying was the Thursday before, after some mistakes I was able to only qualify mid pack in the 19 position for a 10th row start on Saturday.
As the race started Saturday, patience was the only virtue to have as driving in the dust on this tight rocky course was super dangerous. As cars in front of us broke, we were able to finally get out of the dust on lap 4 of 5 and then really focus on running as fast as possible on the relentless course.
Running hard the last lap and a half we were able to put our Cognito/Monster Energy/Polaris RZR on the podium with a second place finish. Not one failure, no flat tires, no broken wheels, no broken axles, just a flawless day other than racing into the dust with fingers crossed!
